Designing Object Templates in Cirkus can streamline your process by maintaining uniformity in data across Members and Resources within your Workspace.
These templates can be tailored and applied to Members and Resources within your Workspace, incorporating Custom fields like a Member's Start Date, Skills, favourite snack, or working days. For Resources, you can detail specifics such as Location, Available Equipment, Capacity, or other relevant characteristics.

Create an Object Template
To get started, let’s create an Object Template.
As the Workspace Administrator, navigate to Workspace > Templates > Object Templates tab, and enter the desired name for the new template.
For our example, let's name it "Studios".
Now double click on the new template to go to the Object Template details, and complete the setup.
First let’s look at the Info tab
- Default Name: This is the name that any Resource created with this template will have by default. It can be edited at the creation time. This does not apply when the template is used for Members.
- Person checkbox - this is a checkbox that defines if this Template can be used for Members. Only Templates with the Person checkbox ticked will be suggested when applying templates to Members.
- Template Description: This is the optional Description of this Template i.e Template for All Studios
Default Object Description: This is the default description that will be added to any Booking created with this template. “Sound Studios are available for bookings Monday to Friday 08:00-18:00"Next let’s look at the Fields tab.
Our template can be set up with some custom fields to collect the information needed about the Object..
Details of the field options are available in the Task Template video.
We can show, hide, rename and make fields mandatory to customise the form.
On cirkus.com these Resource and Member custom fields will be visible to Workspace Administrators, and Workspace Members, but not the Limited Members of the Workspace. On private cloud this is configurable.
In our example for the Studios we will make these changes:
- Add a new custom field of Entry for “Location”.
Type Location in the entry box, and click Add Field.
We’ll make it multiple lines to have more space, and always show it.
- Add a new custom field of type “Capacity” .
Type Capacity in the entry box, and click Add Field. select Type : Number - We’ll add a mandatory multi-selection field with selection of Microphones which are available in the Suite.
Type - Selection
Allow Multiple - Yes
Mandatory - Always - And a free entry field which shows only if Microphone = Other is checked, so the detail can be entered.
Type - Entry
Show - Only If Microphones = Other
In the list we can also show/hide/rename the Description fields, and reorder the fields with drag and drop in the list
Now our Object Template is ready, we can see how to use it.
